Disreputable Expat Business

If there is a curve in the road ahead, there is a sign to warn you about it. Whether to slow down or not, is up to you. But the warning sign gives you a chance to make an educated decision on what course of action you want to take.

Thus, I have a beef to pick on this forum. On another thread Peabody mentioned the name Larry Neil Arnold so I decided to google it. Among an interesting article published on the Internet saying that he failed to show up for sentencing on attempted kidnapping, extortion, burglary and assault convictions, there was a thread on this forum about he and another expat named Patrick Minga.

By the way, good for you Peabody.

Both of these men have had articles published about them by newspapers. Thus the information I am repeating is not hearsay nor slander. Both of these people Patrick Minga (arrested for sex trafficking which included a minor) and Larry Neil Arnold (also Malcolm Redding?) own business in Ecuador that cater almost exclusively to Expats. Evidently the regular posters on this forum know of their past history with the law and if you search different threads, you can find references to these.

Now I understand that almost everyone has something in their past that they don't want others to know. They may even have come to Ec to start fresh and leave unhappy memories behind. This information is a private matter- as long as no one else is in danger.

But these two expats, who own businesses, The Hotel Bonanza in Quito and Casa De Cuenca in Cuenca,
deal with the public. The owner of Casa De Cuenca, by the response of soooooo many other posters on this forum, suggest that, even though his offenses happened a couple of decades ago, his business practices are still questionable.

Where's the warning sign for the curve ahead? If you search Patrick Minga on this forum, there is thread of information. However, there is no thread concerning his Hostel, Bonanza (his wife and nephew were involved in his exploitation biz as well, no?). Neither is there a thread on Casa De Cuenca or Larry Neil Arnold.

I get tht not everyone cares about the past. That's fine. But I think new expats or new readers of the this forum, should know about the curves ahead. THEN they can make their decisions. Doesn't matter what they choose as long as they've looked at the warning sign.

Plus, one of these guys is a regular poster and solicits business using this forum. Doesn't that leave some responsibility to the forum? I feel sorry for posters who diligently watch his posts so they can warn the newbies of who they are dealing with. Remoor2001, realcanadian, peabody to name a few. Since information has been published from other sources and many people on the forum have posted with personal experiences and not hearsay, can't a thread be posted specifically in the names of these two businesses and in the name of Larry Arnold?

This is a help forum. And a pretty good one. So what am I not getting?
