low income senior, reflections and realities

What a wonderful resource this exchange is for me as I contemplate travel/life in Ecuador. It seems there are many people developing ideas on life as an ex-pat there.

What would be most helpful is if everyone communicated what they know from their own experience. This is what really counts for someone like me.

For example, if you've spent a lot of time in a small village or outskirt area of town, and it was truly quiet, what is the name of that locale? That specific info would allow me to research it.

Likewise, people's direct experience of medical care/insurance cost and quality. Or the various climate zones (I've been living in Massachusetts, so am cold-hardy. Don't like humidity.)

Last, if you can afford to buy property, you are living above my means! Thanks to all who provide accounts of their experience as renters.

Would love to hear from someone renting in outskirts/small town where the nights are truly quiet, the air and water clear. How to find a rental? How to get vegetarian groceries, etc.? How to be a good neighbor to the people living there?
