Update from Cuenca expats on earthquake releif

Disaster relief update

I continue to work with local authorities on behalf of those at the coast. They have given me a specific list of things that they have immediate need of. I am collecting monies for medical supplies and a water filtration system. We now have over $2,000 and evey penny is going to relief supplies. They also asked me to tell the gringo community that they need pots for cooking, baby food and diapers,spoons (metal, not plastic because there is no sanitation... and canned food items. Most have nothing to cook on so canned items that they can open and eat cold (Stoves are on their way from Mexico).

I can accept Paypaldonations or contact me and we can set a time to meet ([email protected] 093 980 1979). All donations are gratefully accepted. I don't mean to be graphic but I have reports from my sources at the coast that people are literally dying in the streets. Please consider giving up that extra cup of coffee or wine and send the money to help save lives. Hearts of Gold are also accepting money donations.

Blood is needed badly and you can contribute at the Red Cross (Borrero 6-55 y Presidente Condova). And volunteers are needed at the Turi location (near the church on the hill). I will be there each afternoon so if you worry about language please come and ask forme and I will get you started. Your help is needed.
