Pidiendo ayuda por favor

Hola mis amigos. Tengo un gran favor que preguntar. My wife and I (Canadians in our 60s) are planning to travel to Ecuador for six weeks this coming January and February for a “boots on the ground” exploratory trip considering the idea of becoming ex-pats there. We are thinking of flying in and out of Guayaquil. We figure that from there we could easily get to Cuenca, stay a week, and then head to Loja and Vilcabamba before heading down to explore the coast. We were hoping to rent a condo in Salinas or somewhere along the coast for the month of February, and then just strike out from wherever we were on day and overnight trips. I do want to get as far as Manta, maybe even Bahia de Caraquez, and I especially want to check out the golf course at Monte Christi. We figure it would also be easy enough to get back to Guayaquil from the coast when it came time to fly home.

Since this is an exploratory trip we would really like to connect with some ex-pats before and then when we are there. Maybe someone could give us ideas on where to stay, be willing to hook up with us for lunch and/or a beer, and maybe someone would even be open to playing a round of golf at Monte Christi with us. That would be fantastic. I would really appreciate hearing from some of you fine folk. Mucho gracias.
