Newbie here, 1st post, looking at areas on the coast

Greetings all. Boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Ecuador. He's been already, 1st time for me. We're looking at areas to retire (him) and me to snowbird. We considered Panama but quite frankly land was expensive and a 9 month rainy season (where it rains almost all day) was not for us. I've honed in on the Manta area but would love some suggestions as to some smaller towns on/near the ocean that aren't too crazy. One thing we need is access to good healthcare (BF has cardiac issues). I also understand that there are problems in some places with access to water. Finally, I would prefer somewhere with "high speed' internet so I can work while down here (I work remotely now from NC, my office is in NY). Hoping to be down for about 10 days in October. Thoughts and advise are much appreciated.
