Solidarity with cancer patients

Dear expats of Cuenca and all of Ecuador,

When was the last time you came in contact with cancer?
Have you ever had to rely on outside financial resources to go to the doctor?
Did you know that cancer screening and treatment are still inaccessible in many parts of Ecuador?

In 2020 alone, 15,123 people (source: WHO) died from cancer, of which breast cancer is the most common cause of death.

As German volunteers, we came here to give our time and care to cancer patients, most of whom are women and children. Something we can’t accept.

Hello first,
our names are Lea and Alisia. We are 22 and 20 years old, both from Germany and we are spending a total of six months with the organization FUPEC ("Familias Unidas por las Enfermedades Catastróficas") as volunteers..

With your effort we want to give patients more access to medicines and a fair treatment for all. To do this, we work at two levels in the organization:
With the patients and with the government. Nationwide, we offer services and projects that support every patient from young to old with every condition. Furthermore we fight for the rights of patients and the obligations of the Ecuadorian health system for the patients.

Spreading awareness and communication of the diseases is the first step to draw attention to the patients who have no support.

Mutually, we can benefit from each other by gaining more knowledge from the patients and the patients can gain more in quality and time of life, which means a huge improvement in the patient's healing process.

Together, we can spread positive images and create a world with space for people who have limits in basic needs.

Show your commitment to the sick and help us by volunteering, donating or attending workshops because you too can be affected at any time.

Cancer doesn't care who you are. We do.
Become a part of us now!

So our question is, when are you going to join us?
