Buying a car in Cairo - new or used?

I'm an expat moving to Cairo in summer. Got a budget for a car that sets me at a level of a new Corolla. I was thinking of buying something bigger - but a used one (to stay in the budget), but heard opinions that buying a used one is very risky. Does anybody have an experience to share?
