I have been overcharged by drivers of small or old and uncomfortable taxis many times till my hotel recommended me a taxi that is an MPV. There is plenty of leg room and the airconditioning is unbeatable as the car is relatively new. The best is that the driver, Mr Hargard, charges the lowest rates in town. He will also offer free guide on the best places to eat and shop and what is there to do if you ask him. His taxi is available any time of the day and is especially suitable for people with walking aids or wheelchairs with all that space. He can be contacted via calls or sms. I saved quite a bit of money using his service to & from the Luxor airport, to Sharm El Sheik, Hurgada and Aswan.
