Cell Phones for Both El Salvador and US

Hey,

I am moving to El Salvador soon and I am going to need a cell phone in El Salvador. I return often to the US and will need to be able to communicate with the US often. So my phone will need to be usable in both countries.

I have heard good things about Tigo, but can't find any info if it works in the US.

What is everyone's thoughts?
