Best Place?

I am trying to narrow down what part of the country I should first stay. I am not a big city person but would consider it. I love the mountains and love to hike. I also love the water. The most important is cities with good internet as I will be working and relatively safe for a single woman. I do love coffee and not sure if the coffee region would be good.

I was also thinking mountain for a month beach area for a month. Suggestions would be great.
