My husband and I recently bought a 100 (or so) year old home in the area around Grenoble. It needed some work so...we've bought a lot of materials and services over the past few months. One of the artisans who came to work on the house told me to save my receipts, and submit them when we file our tax paperwork (we pay taxes in France, on French income). He said that there is a tax reduction for renovation work done on "old" houses as the government wants to encourage people to buy and renovate old places. Does anyone know if this is true? Or where I might verify this valuable (if true) bit of advice?
