Moving to North France - contacts required for advice

Hi, I'm interested in moving to France to live and work and would welcome any contact with people who already live out there. I've read many books and sites, but I would like to speak with real people. I've identified Normandy/Loire/Brittany as a possible destination, from Rouen down to Alencon and on to Renne and surrounding areas. I plan to buy a modest house outright and work in order to live. My specialism is IT, but I am not fussy about which industry.
