Working in France

Our carte de sejour is a visitor one, meaning we are not allowed to be employed in France. Does this extend to things like teaching private music lessons or is it just actual "for real" employment by a company?

With the exchange rate the way it is, we are really needing to figure out ways to supplement our income and I didn't know if we could put our talents to use or not...(don't want to run the risk of deportation!). THANKS!
