Auto Window Tinting

Since my wife has MS and is very sensitive to the sun her doctor has prescribed window tinting in our car. I would like to bring it to France and travel in the rest of Europe with it. Is it legal to have the front window tinted there? Because of the doctor's letter and other government requirements that we have met, it is legal here. It is not normally.
