I'm looking for shopping websites in France with an option to navigate in English. I have many expat friends who live in France, as well as family who lives outside France, but wish to order to have stuff delivered to us here. They can't, either due to the language barrier, or won't, due to the sites shipping from outside France, dramatically increasing the shipping costs, and then the government tacking on exorbitant customs fees. Having stuff sent in from over the border always doubles the price of the items. This is silly because I'm sure most of the stuff we'd want is already within France.
Here's what we've found is the best way to have stuff sent in, if absolutely necessary. Tell your sender to mark "gift" on the customs form AND write a value of "0" for the contents. Both of these must be done, or otherwise the sender or the receiver will be charged above and beyond the postage for delivery.
