New to the Nice area and searching for a job

Hi all, I recently moved down to Nice after spending a period undertaking a language course in Chambéry and I have just started to look for a position here in the IT / IS inductry.
I am a Business Analyst / Project Manager with around 8 years experience in a variety of different industries and I am ideally looking for a freelance position. I have registered with all of the agencies locally which specialiose in IT recruitment and am wawiting their response but in the mean time, has anyone got any clues as to how to find something within this market?
My level of understanding of the French language is not bad - intermediate - but I feel that I woul be more comfortable working in a predominantly speaking English environment. Any suggestions, anybody?
