Short-term job in France

Hi,

I'm an American married to a German, and we have lived in Germany for the last four years. I have full residency and work permission within Germany.

I recently worked on a project as a site technician installing and configuring computers at client sites throughout Germany, under contract to a German company which was subcontracted by a larger firm (multinational).

The client has sites throughout Europe, including France. I had discussed with the contact person of the contracting company the possibility of me working on the French portion of this project, again as an employee of the subcontracted company.

I'm not 100% clear as to my visa/work permit requirements. Do I need a permit and visa because I'm a non-EU citizen, or am I exempt because of my residency status? In any case, we're talking short-term (4 to 6 weeks). Is this where the "temporary Secondment" permit comes into play?

I've been trying to navigate travail.gouv.fr in order to find an e-mail address of someone to ask, but since I don't speak French (the internal language of the companies involved is English, although I also speak German), I'm having problems. If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it.

Mike
