opening a bank account in france

I know this sounds like a dumb question but how can I open a bank account (while in the USA, NYC) in France? I am in the middle of buying a property in Jonzac and the broker only just asked me to open an account. HSBC could do it from NYC but I need $100,000.00 as a standing balance before they'll consolidate my New York, London and France HSBC bank accounts. Of course I need this done yesterday - many thanks
