Affordable property near Montpellier?

I'm hoping someone can help me out.

There is a possibility that my husband's job may be transferring to Montpellier, and so we are busily trying to investigate what looks like a fantastic city! However, all the properties we have looked at (purely on the Internet) have all been way out of our price range. We could not really afford to go over 180,000 euros (we wouldn't really be able to take on somewhere that needed completely renovating), and would need 2, or preferably 3, bedrooms. Obviously we would not be able to afford this in the city centre, so are prepared to look further afield as long as it was within commuting distance of Montpellier (he would be working for IBM, which I believe is somewhere just north of the airport?)

Can anyone suggest any nearby towns or villages that are more affordable than Montpellier itself or is the whole area just as pricey?
