Paris or Milan? I cant decide :(

I have two options open in september for an abroad program. I have lived in LA, Miami and DC and need an abroad equivilant for high energy, great nightlife and flashiness. I am not overly interested in history or architecture when I pick a city to travel....I am concentrated on the social vibe and environment. I have heard Paris is very overrated and boring and I have heard southern France in warm season is the only 'flashy' place to see in France (?) I have been all over Europe, but not France or Milan. I have yet to be impressed with a city, as I would with Miami or LA.....
Any information to help me make the best decision for my interests would be so helpful! Thank You:)
