Urgent Medical Advice Paris

Hmm. I seem to have a knee "situation" that is so bad, I'm bedridden today. I suspect I've torn a meniscus in my knee. Tomorrow, I will be calling an expat-serving English doc in Paris I've seen for flu shots, but that's about it. I literally will need crutches to get there. (I wonder if the pharmacies rent them.) My French is passable for everyday needs, but if I have to see a French doc who doesn't speak English, should I bring along a translator? And if so, where do I get one?

Anyone out there have any advice about how to proceed? I have private health insurance but haven't used it. Do you get referrals for specialists as in US? Or find out who the best orthopedists are, if I need one.How do you decide on a hospital to go to if you need to? Is the American Hospital the best place to go? Merci!
