Commuting Commute from Lyon to Romans Sur Isere

I have a job opportunity in Romans Sur Isere France, which is a little over 1 hr south of Lyon France, but I am concerned there are no American schools for our children. Are there some decent suburbs south of Lyon that would allow me to commute to Romans, yet make it easy for our children to go to an international school in Lyon? I am concerned about gas costs too, if I have to commute. My wife is concerned about being isolated too, that's why we are leaning towards Lyon.
