Living in Paris

I am contemplating a move to Paris. I have a viable job opportunity teaching English to corporations with an organization in Paris (there are several). As a single person willing to live in a studio in a decent area of Paris, what monthly income would I need? I would not be purchasing a car.
Note: I am currently in Montmartre until March renting a delightful studio but it is costing 1100 euros a month. Can I do better than this? Is there an inexpensive area of Paris that is still in the city proper?
