Hello!
I came to Europe for 6 weeks and travelled from London, then France, then Spain, France again, then Italy and back to London and I return to California on Monday :( I've decided that I would like to move to Paris....ya, crazy I know...I've been doing research all day and I think my eyeballs have fallen out of my face from staring at this computer screen.
I also was able to work doing makeup for fashion week through a London based agency I'm not signed with. I would like to see if I can find the answers myself before calling and bothering them. I have a few questions I'm hoping to get answered, so please feel free to offer answers, thanks so much in advance:
1. I need to invoice the agency so I can get paid, two shows I did will pay in € (euros) and two shows will pay in $ (dollars) and all 4 shows were in Paris and my US bank won't accept a check in foreign currency...is paypal my best option to invoice and collect payment?
2. What kind of Visa do freelance makeup artists apply for, someone told me I can apply for the status of travailleur independante and then pay my taxes in the US...ummm huh??? can't find enough information on that status.
3. How long does it take once I get back to the US to come back to Paris legally. I have a place to stay with friends in France, I'm 100% American and I won't have sponsorship, a MBA or a PhD. I would focus on doing makeup for private clients and then trying to find an online business or teach English.
4. I figured I could find information about how models work and get paid but I was unsuccessful. If I am able to get an agent in Europe to represent me, how does that work?
5. What do you recommend as the fastest and cheapest way to learn French while in California waiting for this process?
I'm sure I will think of more questions, your help is truly appreciated, I'd love to have a plan by Monday!
