I want to move to the Nice, France, area as soon as possible. My level of French is beginner but I am studying French at home with Fluenz French. I know that my French will improve greatly once I move to France and I am surrounded by native French speakers every day.
I am currently working as a small animal veterinarian in California for over eleven years. Before I went to veterinary medical school, I owned and managed a motel in Tahoe City, California, for over seven years. I worked as a legal secretary for over three years. I am not a licensed veterinarian in France so I am looking for work as a veterinary nurse, a manager for a gite or B&B, a live-in property caretaker, or any job whatsoever that will provide me with enough income to support myself.
I need to secure a job before I move to Nice in order to get a Work Visa. I have made hundreds of contacts in the Nice area on LinkedIn but no one has had any job leads for me. I regularly search AngloInfo French Riviera Classifieds, The Riviera Times Online, The Lady Magazine (UK), Greycoat Live-In Jobs, and Gumtree. I applied for two positions at Virbac (a veterinary pharmaceuticals company) in the Nice area. I have received a rejection from them for one of the positions and I have not heard back from them for the other position. I have applied for a couple of veterinary nurse positions. I have contacted veterinarians advertising for associates on WK-Vet and asked them if they had a position for a veterinary nurse that I could fill.
I am getting very frustrated with my job search. Does anyone have any job leads? Or does anyone have any other suggestions for my job search? I cannot afford to visit the area right now so I am limited to online, phone, and Skype interactions.
