Hello. My mother has lived in France for 10 years in a house bought by her partner. They never married but lived together.
The partner died four years ago. He has two living parents and two sisters. The sisters agreed that my mother could have the house, but nothing was signed.
My mother then suffered a stroke two years ago and one month ago fell down some stairs. She can no longer live independently and needs nursing care in England, as she speaks no French and her family live in England.
How much claim on the property do the sisters/parents of my mother now have? Do they have half? Is it the sisters and the parents of the partner? We will probably need to sell the house to pay for my mother's care.
Thank you.
Louis
