Last Will for US assets > French kids ?

I've lived in France for 20-odd years, and I don't know how or where to have my last will and testament written-up so that my modest US investments will to go to my French wife born heirs.

Should I have it written up in the state where the bank account resides (Connecticut)?

Should I write it here and keep it with my French papers and let my heirs just "deal" with it? I can just imagine the headache.

Thus far, I have not met a lawyer or tax expert who can even attempt an informed answer to these questions.

Thanks for any advice you might have on the subject.
