Resources in/near Montpellier for Jan 2018 visit

I am thinking about retiring to the Languedoc region in a couple of years, and am planning a scouting trip in January. Can you recommend any useful people to meet during the trip, in or near Montpellier? Real estate agents (I'm planning to rent), financial specialists, expats with helpful advice? I'm single and speak some French (it's rusty but would improve with practice). I've travelled in France but never in the southern part of the country. What should I know?
