VISA Alert - L.A. Consulate

Cut & paste from the Los Angeles French Consulate website:

===

The visa section of the consulate general of France in Los Angeles has ceased operation on 06/27/2018.

It remains open for a few days, for passports pick up only.

From 06/28/18 on, all applications for the jurisdiction of the Consulate in Los Angeles, will be received by VFS Global, still in Los Angeles:

Century City, 1901 Avenue of the Stars
Regus Centre - 2nd Floor
Los Angeles CA 90067

Appointments with VFS can be booked through the France Visas Website.

You will also find, on this website, all the information you need to gather the required documentation.

The Consulate General of France in Los Angeles is not in a position to offer any information for any application posterior to 06/27/18.

Note:

1.France Visas Website = https://france-visas.gouv.fr/en_US/web/france-visas

2.VFS Global ("Visa Facilitation Services") is an outsourcing and technology services
specialist for governments and diplomatic missions worldwide.
In other words, Visa processing has been outsourced.

Also, according to Service-Public France

1. (https://www.service-public.fr/partic.../vosdroits/F39)
Long-Term Visa marked "VLS-TS" as a "visitor (you must be able to live on your own resources in France and you agree not to work)" [4 to 12 months]

and

2. (https://www.service-public.fr/partic...sdroits/F16162)
Long-Term Visa marked "carte de séjour to be requested within 2 months of arrival" as a " retiree or retired spouse," [allows you to obtain a residence permit in the prefecture which can be renewed every year]

So in (1. VLS-TS) above, as a visitor, you will specifically "agree not to work". Whereas in (2. carte de séjour), it states it is for retirees but says nothing about not working.
