Buying a used car in France

I am returning to France this Fall for a 3 month period~as I am joining a small joint touring company in Provence
I will be there often with 3 month stays
throughout 2020 also. I'm thinking about purchasing a small used car for my stays. Any Ideas? Anyone done the same?
