Having A Baby in Paris

Hi, my American daughter is about to have a baby near Paris. my question is about the birth certificate and a middle name. I had my daughter in Italy and they did not include her middle name despite my requests. They simply don’t use middle names. The problem arose when we applied for her American citizenship. As a result there. Are always complications re documents. Do the French use middle names? Also, are there forms to fill out immediately after the birth from the American side? Thanks.
