Leaving full time job (CDI, in France) and applying for chomage

I am working full time in a job in France (CDI) and unfortunately, have discovered it is carte blanche when it comes to 'free' overtime, exploitation etc. I have no choice but to work 'free' overtime, even though I have complained to the goverment authorities (not their 'problem') and my Pole Emploi counsellor. So I am wanting to leave and claim chomage. As you know, it is not easy to leave a full time permanent job and ask to get unemployment benefits (and rightly so). Hence, my boss knows he can exploit me, and this he does. Apart from 'sacking', it there any other way to get onto chomage? Can I leave the CDI, take a short CDD and once this finishes, make a claim?
