Car from US/Shipping Containers

Bon Soir! I am wondering about whether to bring my car (2016 Honda C-RV) or to sell it and buy a used vehicle once I am settled in France.

I realize that most people hire companies to pack up their stuff, but can you buy/rent a container, pack it yourself and then hire the transport to a major port? Do people usually put a car and their furniture in the same large shipping container or buy/rent separate containers?
