Hello there. I’m a woman in my 60s who moved to France by myself eight years ago. I grew up in a military family, visited France often, always dreamed of living here but like many of us, postponed that dream for children, work, family. When I was ready, I took 5 scouting trips in 3 years and ultimately chose Sète. My life here is everything I had hoped it would be. I’ve made friends of several nationalities, travel often all over Europe, take advantage of a myriad of cultural event opportunities, have vastly improved my French language skills and my health (French healthcare really is state of the art), am nearing mastery of solo sailing, and I live well on a state teachers pension plus social security. I will say this. After reading about so many people’s difficulties in obtaining the correct visa, medical health rights, drivers license, bank account, insurances, car and property, as well as navigating the French tax system, I decided to hire a recommended EU relocation company. Best money I ever spent, as I had help every step of the way. Many people struggle through the difficulties and challenges to end up where they want to be; I chose not to do that, and all my transitions have been more or less seamless with the professional help.
