taxes

Hello. I've just moved to Germany, where I've gotten a job that will last the next four months or so. Having just gotten my first paycheck -- and blanching when I saw 35 percent of it went to taxes -- I'm trying to get some information.

Basically, I'm trying to find out two things: 1) What taxes am I required to pay while working here? and 2) how does my payment in Germany affect my tax bill in the U.S.

I know I'll need to get more expert advice when it comes to filing time, but if anybody has some basic info, or could point me in the right direction to find it, I'd appreciate it.
