Americans in Erding / Munich area

I have been offered a position in the Erding area. Currently, I reside in Phoenix, AZ. I am not familiar with the cost of living in southern Germany.

Looking for guidance and advice for the following:
- Approximate COL ratio to gauge income reqs, etc.
- Cost / availability of 1-2 zimmer by location (Munich, Erding, and the surrounding towns/villages)

I assume that Munich and Erding are (borderline) unaffordable. Which other towns near Erding would you recommend? Rail access to Erding would be preferable. I am single; nightlife is a plus.
