Moving to Berlin, seeking work & contacts

Hello all, I'm an American who will be moving to Berlin in March. I'm a web developer with 8+ years experience developing CMS's and front-ends for software companies and companies/individuals in the Entertainment industry in Southern California.

I have BAs in German, Art and Music. I've studied German in Halle, S.A. at Martin Luther University, and feel comfortable enough to get around in Germany. I have friends there too, und freue mich darauf, in Berlin zu wohnen!!

I'm looking for a few things here::

1) Possibility for employment with a Berlin-based company who would provide residency contract. I'd love to find a job doing web programming/development

2) Would also like to make more contacts with any kindred souls, German or American or otherwise, in Berlin, who would be willing to share experiences and/or give some useful advice to help me achieve goal #1...

3) I'm considering taking a TESL certification course before leaving, so that I might teach English while freelancing with my web work. Any recommendations about this? Would a language school in Berlin be likely/able to provide me with a residence permit? Attaining residency is obviously my priority and I'v heard it's not always so easy for Americans to do.
