Hello all,
I just joined up and will pose this as my first inquiry to the group.
• On the 30th of May, I will spend 2 days driving from Vienna, Austria, to Thessaloniki and plan to stay for 2 weeks.
• From there, I'll go to Nafplio, via Evoia; again 2 weeks each.
• I really want to experience a month of Crete, during peak tourist time and heat, as that is my primary place of interest in living (been there during off season and need to see/experience more). This would put me there throughout July and I'll try to experience more of the East and South and spend one to 1.5 weeks each in various locations.
• I still wish to explore Peloponnese and will put together a plan for that, post-Crete.
• I'd also like to continue from Peloponnese to the 7 Ionian islands.
• Samos alos intrigues me.
The dual goals are to have a good time and search for a place to live. I'd like to settle down in a place with a beautiful view and a place the makes me think that I'm one lucky SOB every single morning as the sun comes up.
Now, the question: what do you think of the travel plan?
Any refinements, additions, or cautions that you'd advise?
Other points of note:
I've got the visa requirement issues planned for and in order.
I have no interest in living in large cities any longer. Athens is out and Thessaloniki's municipality is being explored in order to ascertain whether it is a pass or fail.
I grew up on the ocean (island boy). I'm heavily in favor of being near to the sea yet beautiful mountainous regions still tug at the heart.
I'll drive an electric car throughout the trip. I could prove to be a gigantic PITA and there is one good way to find out! DEI & Tesla have decent enough networks and I'll have to give it a try although I could end up selling the damn thing.
