arranging accommodation -Antigua Ciudad Vieja area

I have been doing some research into various options for my arrival in Guatemala-( planning on early Sept.)
I understand a long term rental is a formal process so I imagine it is best for several reasons to wait until there and view the property.
I have looked on Airbnb and see some places I really like but I am not so happy about paying a booking fee.
I am also mistrustful of reviews on places via expedia or tripadvisor..as I do freelance work I know people are paid to do reviews for any number of things. Hard to beleif such over the moon comments and then a few that are com[letely opposite.

Ok so short story is..
recommendations for arrival..?? how long should it take to find a small furnished apt with 2 well behaved trained small dogs outside (or possibly within) Antigua. SW Ciudad Vieja ""area""..1500Q-2000Q -nothing fancy..but QUIET, safe..internet, hot shower,
I don't mind taking a bus or taxi to town now and then.
and once that place is found how long does it take to occupy the place.
I am trying to determine how long I should book a hotel (or other place) until I find a more permanent spot.
recommendations for temporary place home or hotel..?? pet friendly of course and not too pricey < 300Q> or less/night

Thank you all..
you can pm me if you have a contact or post
( I have been to Guatemala/Antigua/Atitlan in the past.)
