meds in Guatemala

We are considering moving to Antigua for 6 months. My son is on Methylphenidate(Ritalin),it considered a narcotic. I asked my doctor if I would be able to get a 6 month supply but doesn't look like I can. Can I get these meds in Guate? What do others do if there on a medication that is considered a narcotic?
