We have family missionaries at an orphanage in Zacapa that is severely impacted by flooding from recent storm. No water, food shortages and looting/robbing at present.
Does anyone have information/experience regarding rescue extraction if it becomes necessary? As I understand the roads and bridges have been severely damaged, which prevents access to stores for food and water.
I am trying to assess options to get our children and grandchildren evacuated by helicopter to the city to fly back to the U.S. until it is safe to return. There are other U.S. missionaries on site also. There are many children located at the facility that are, or will be, in need of food and water.
Of course I will be in contact w the State Dept., I just thought there may be some useful information available through Expat experience. Any useful information would be appreciated.
Thank you
