Roundtrip or One Way?

Hi everyone:
This is a random question but thought maybe someone out there could help us in our planning.
We're from the U.S.and our job is relocating our family to Galway in September and we're trying to decide if it would be better to get one way tickets or roundtrip?

The reason why we ask is we've heard of some people having a negative experience at the airport with a one way ticket, clearing Immigration Control. We'll be coming in with proof of income coming from the US and we'll be bringing letters from our employer, proof of health insurance, bank account statements etc, to show them at immigrations. But we were just curious as to some of the members experience. Thanks so much
