Hey there, good day to you all!
I'm from the UK and my husband is from the U.S. We currently live in the U.S. But we are ready for a new adventure and I've been looking at moving us and our children to Ireland. My children have dual UK and U.S. Citizenship and so taking them to Ireland isn't going to be a problem and from what I understand my husband can travel with us as the spouse of a EU citizen exercising rights to work in Ireland.
I guess my question is, in which order do I do things to successfully move?
I have passports, I assume I need to get my husband a short stay visa, then get him the stamp 4 (?) when we get there. I'm confused about whether I'm able to apply for a job before landing or if I need to go over, then apply for work on the ground, and, I'm in need of some advice on places to avoid and places to aim for.
Ideally I'd like to move within 6 months. I will have the money for plane tickets and at least a down payment on an apartment, and I would like to have a job lined up to go to when I get there, I would like to live there for at least a year, maybe longer, but eventually I would like to see even more of Europe or return to the U.K. I'm just absolutely sure I don't want to spend the rest of my life in the U.S. And so we need to travel and try other places!
Any advice from anyone who has moved with a none EU relative would be advantageous! Thank you!
