American in Ireland

I have been reading all the posts and I am still slightly confused. I have three grandparents (two on dad's side/one on mom's) that came from Limerick. According to the Irish consulate that qualifies me to hold dual citizenship and I have started the process of getting Irish citizenship and passport. `The end goal is to move to Ireland in late 2017/early 2018 and look for a part-time job to supplement my retirement income. But is this realistic? Can I get a part time job outside a large city? Or, even in a large city?
I have a small farm in Virginia that I will rent out and am hoping to find a rural house with a little land for my dogs. I have been on my own for years, love to read, and walk and am entirely comfortable on my own so don't need close neighbors.

Any input would be welcome!
