Irish School

My husband and I and our 5 year old son will be living in Ireland while my husband works at his company's Dublin office for a year. I've done some research on the Irish school system, but am still a little confused. My son is 5 and would be starting kindergarten in the US this fall. Does anyone know whether he will be in Senior Infants or Grade 1? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
