Private Irish Health Insurance

Hello, we recently relocated from the CA to West Cork and are currently insured by Cigna Global, which is American based I am a citizen and my husband is not. I am finding that the US expat insurance companies seem to get away with violating privacy in a way they can't get away with insuring people living in the states. Under Obamacare you don't have to report a pre-existing condition, for example.

I'm wondering what expat's experiences are with private Irish insurance and pre-existing conditions. We are healthy but this is more about the principle of the matter.

Thank you!
