Financial qualification to get residency US citizen

I am a US citizen and my only guaranteed income is US Social Security which is far below the 50,000 euros I have been reading about. But I do have significant savings that will easily support me for the rest of my life (age 70). Everything I have read says you have to apply in Ireland but the official guidelines don't say much about what is needed to qualify but I have also read a lot about the 50,000 euros/year. Anyone have any real and recent experience with this? Thanks in advance.
