Citizenship for my baby

Hi all,

I'm a 3rd generation Irish-South African WITH citizenship & passport since birth, as my mother registered me as a Foreign Irish Birth. I am pregnant with my 1st baby, & my husband & I are hoping to move to IE in the next 18 months. As such, it is most likely this baby will be born in RSA, unless I'm able to secure work at least a few months before baby is due.

My question is this: will I also be able to register my baby as a foreign Irish birth? Is there a moratorium on the number of familial generations registered as foreign Irish births? www.dfa.ie doesn't give this kind of info...

Many thanks
