Please Help Me Move to Italy

I originally posted this message as a reply to the "6 months in rome" and counting topic. I decided that although it's only been a day without a repsonse, I'd probably have better luck getting a response if I created my own topic.

That being said...Please Help Me Move to Italy.

I would like to move to Italy for at least a year. The bad news is that I have NO idea where to start. And, for that matter, I couldn't tell you where I want to live, where I would like to work, nor could I list the myriad of variables I need to consider.

The good news is that I have a year to figure everything out, as I will not be able to leave the States until next August.

Any help and/or insights that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.
