Ciao.
I am a US citizen looking to relocate to Italy. I am a professional actor but just recently rec'd my CELTA cert. to teach ESL. When I decide to make the move, having money to keep me afloat for a few months won't be a problem but getting hired by a language school in Italy as a non-EU national seems virtually impossible. I would like to get a freelance visa so I can go there and teach and write (and act, whenever my fairly limited--but improving--Italian will allow me to).
Any tips on how to do that? What I keep seeing is that an Italian co. will have to hire me as a "consultant" in a particular field, but what will that entail and what sort of documentation will I have to present to the Italian embassy/consulate here to prove its legitimacy?
Any and all help/info/encouragement welcome!
Gary
